East Khasi Hills Notifies New Transport Rules

East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner Issawanda Laloo informed that 30% of commercial vehicles in urban areas and 50% in rural areas can operate from August 9 to August 14, 2021, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the week. According to the order, city buses, minibuses, local taxis and auto-rickshaws and SSPTS maxi taxis will operate according to the date and registration number formula decided by the district administration.
The order stipulated that there would be no passenger transportation outside of Shillong City. He added that any inter-district movement and movement outside of Shillong City and its adjacent areas will only be allowed through passes duly obtained from the relevant authority.
According to the arrangement, commercial vehicles with registration numbers ending in 2,3 and 4 will run on Monday 5 and 6 and 7 Tuesday 8, 9 and 0 Wednesday 1,2 and 3 Thursday 4,5, and 6 on Friday and 7,8 and 9 on Saturday.
The number of seats will be strictly observed as decided by the district committee. Bus, minibus 50% or not more than 2 + 16, local taxi 1 + 3, auto rickshaw 1 + 2 and SSPTS 1 + 5.
“Strictly follow the appropriate behavior of Covid in public places and public transport vehicles,” DC East Khasi Hills added.
In Shillong City, vehicles will travel between the areas included in the Municipality area, the whole cantonment area, all census towns and villages u der Mawlai C and RD block, all towns and cities. census villages under Mawpat C and block RD, areas under Milliem C and RD.
Areas falling in the subdivisions of Sohra and Pynursla 50% per day. Arrangements will be made by the Subdivision Officer (C), concerned subdivision for commercial vehicles to circulate within the subdivision only.
There will be no passenger transportation to Shillong, the metropolitan area and its adjacent areas. Travel to the city of Shillong and its surroundings for the only type of vehicle will be made only for essential reasons with passes duly obtained from the SDO (C) concerned.
Display of vaccination status is mandatory for all vehicles.
