DUBAI, Aug 23, 2021 (WAM) – Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) maritime transport carried 5,734,244 passengers in the first half of this year, compared to 4,694,870 passengers during the first half of this year. from the same period last year. This figure reflects a 20.3% increase in the use of RTA’s means of river transport, namely the ferry, the Abra, the water taxi and the water bus.

“The growth in shipping ridership recorded in the first half of this year is indicative of a recovery in this vital sector in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. It is due to effective plans drawn up by the government and strict adherence to precautionary measures. measures to slow the outbreak of the pandemic, ”said Mohammed Abu Bakr Al Hashemi, Director of Shipping, Public Transport Agency, RTA.
