The temporary closure of the Licensing Division offices between December 24 and January 2 will not negatively affect those wishing to renew their driver’s license or other documents issued by the division before the end of the year. This was assured Wednesday officials of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

At a press conference at the Diplomatic Center on December 18, the Prime Minister announced that from December 24 and January 2, public sector workers, except those in essential services, will be allowed to stay away from their respective workplaces. In a Dec. 23 statement, the ministry said all offices of the Licensing Division will be closed during this time.

Ministry officials said in the statement that the public has been reminded that “the validity of driver’s licenses, taxi driver’s licenses, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division has been extended until January 31, 2022, or at a later date as the Minister of Public Works and Transport may specify.

People with an appointment between December 24 and January to renew driver’s licenses, taxi driver’s licenses, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the division, are asked to reschedule their appointments, using the planning portal .

The ministry also advised people to use the portal to reschedule their appointments after January 2, using the time slots available for licensing offices in Trinidad and Tobago, if they could not access their. preferred location.

The ministry apologized to the public for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the Licensing Division offices between December 24 and January 2.

Officials also referred to a statement from the ministry on September 13, which addressed issues such as expired documents. This statement stated that driver’s licenses and other documents issued by the licensing division that expired on or before January 31, 2022, will be valid until February 1, 2022.

Any vehicle registration transfer that must be completed by January 31, 2022 can be made by February 1, 2022 at the latest.

This statement also states that people who need to renew documents or transfer vehicles to the division before traveling overseas can visit the walk-in offices. But they are required to provide proof of their travel itinerary when doing so.
