Free taxi rides are offered for Manchester residents who want to get a bang, but find it difficult to get to a center.

The Manchester JabCab service is back this winter with support from taxi company Street Cars, and aims to help people get vaccinated against Covid.

The service will help those who cannot walk, drive or take public transport to get to a vaccination center for their Covid-19 vaccines.

Manchester council is working to get as many people vaccinated as possible during the holiday season by removing transport barriers encountered when trying to access a vaccination center.

Earlier this year, a similar scheme has been introduced to help residents get to their Moss Side and Belle Vue appointments, the program is now open across Manchester.

Vaccinations can be booked in advance via the NHS website .

Alternatively, many vaccination centers offer walk-in appointments, but be sure to check if the desired location accepts walk-in appointments.

To order a taxi to take you to one of the vaccination centers, call Street Cars and mention “ManchesterJabCab” when ordering.

David Regan, Manchester Director of Public Health, said: “Providing fair and easy access to the Covid vaccine for the people of Manchester has been one of the cornerstones of the vaccination program.

“This winter we are doing everything we can to get people vaccinated and the ManchesterJabCab is just one tool at our disposal to protect as many people as possible.

“The first week of the expanded booster program was a huge success, with over 44,000 booster jabs given in the week.

“The challenge now will be to maintain that and keep people coming over Christmas time. We also want to encourage people to get their first dose because it is never too late to get the vaccine.

“Vaccines remain the best line of defense against serious illness if you develop Covid and I would ask anyone who has not yet booked to take this opportunity and protect themselves and their loved ones this Christmas.”
