Saturday May 7, residents have the opportunity to vote on two initiatives that address issues facing Fort Worth. Learn about proposed 2022 bond program plans and charter changes in a series of public meetings beginning soon.
Bond Election 2022
The $560 million bond package includes proposals to fund capital projects in Fort Worth’s neighborhoods and business districts. If the bond proposals are passed, there will be no direct impact on the tax rate and the city’s tax rate should not have to increase to pay off the bonds.
The bond program is divided into five proposals. Voters can vote for or against each proposal on the ballot.
Proposal A: $360,218,300 for street and mobility projects.
Proposal B: $123,955,500 for parks and recreation projects, including a new aquatic center in the Stop Six neighborhood and a rebuilt Forest Park pool.
Proposal C: $12,505,200 for a new library in far northwest Fort Worth.
Proposal D: $39,321,000 for police and fire department public safety facilities. Included is a proposed headquarters for the Northwest Patrol Division.
Proposal E: $15,000,000 for the city’s Open Space program, which focuses on acquiring natural spaces.

Charter Election
Thirteen proposed amendments to the city charter will be on the May 7 ballot. Voters can vote for or against each of the proposals individually.
Among the proposals is increasing the annual salary of the mayor and council members, as well as other proposals to remove outdated language and reflect the current organization of Fort Worth city government.
