Ministry of Transport: the same rules now apply to VTL air travelers from Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand | Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 – The Ministry of Transport has said the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for air-vaccinated taxiway with Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand will be the same from tomorrow.
In a statement today, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong said this means travelers no longer need to wait for their Covid-19 test results at the terminal upon arrival.
“Travelers only need to take a Covid-19 swab test upon arrival and will then be allowed to go to their respective accommodations as outlined in the MySejahtera (HSO) Home Monitoring Order via transport private, taxi or rental vehicles.
“They must then self-isolate pending their Covid-19 test results which will be given within 24 hours,” he said.
Wee said travelers will be allowed to end their self-isolation period once they test negative, but will need to follow existing health protocols from the Department of Health if the result is positive.
He also mentioned that the initiative aims to remove any ambiguity among travelers entering Malaysia and will be applied to all VTL arrivals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Penang International Airport.
Previously, Wee said the federal government is preparing to implement the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) by air with Thailand and Cambodia as early as the middle of this month.
He said the issue was discussed during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s official visit to the two countries last month.
