Police Oversight Conference – Welcome to the City of Fort Worth

This year’s conference will bring together experts from the United States and around the world to discuss ways in which attendees can build intentional relationships and work with others to establish better surveillance and, therefore, better security systems. public.

Twenty-eight sessions will share information on strengthening police, jail, and prison oversight work, as well as innovations that will move civilian oversight forward in this ongoing era of reform. Session tracks include: reform and innovation, prison and prison oversight, addressing today’s challenges, and the practice of effective oversight.

Monday, September 12 will be the first full day of sessions and will feature a Texas theme, including welcoming remarks from Fort Worth Mayor Pro Tem Gyna Bivens, Fort Worth City Manager David Cooke, and Fort Worth Police Surveillance Monitor Kim Neal followed by keynote speaker Rep. American Marc Veasey, D-Texas. Oversight agencies from Fort Worth, Houston, Dallas and Austin will then present the first session of the day, “The Changing Landscape of Civilian Oversight in Texas.”

The conference provides a forum where the growing community of civilian oversight practitioners, law enforcement officials, journalists, elected officials, students, community members and others can meet to discuss information and ideas on issues facing civilian oversight and law enforcement.
